Improving NTD Outcomes Through Gender Equity and Social Inclusion: Tanzania
Principal investigators: Richard Killian (RTI); Taroub Faramand (WI-HER); Amy Doherty (RTI); Upendo Mwingira (MOH/NIMR)
Gender equity and social inclusion (GESI) analysis findings in Tanzania uncovered the differential risk and impact of neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) on men, women, boys, and girls, as well as how sex, gender, and social inclusion shape access to information and services for NTDs. The USAID Act to End Neglected Tropical Diseases | East (Act | East) technical brief and analysis report has supported the Tanzania Neglected Tropical Disease Control Program (TZNTDCP), as well as Act | East, to better recognize, consider, and operationalize GESI considerations in their NTD response.
