WI-HER Leads Development of Gender Strategy for the USAID ASSIST Project
Press Release on December 6, 2012
WI-HER led the development of a gender integration strategy for the USAID Applying Science to Strengthen and Improve Systems (ASSIST) Project. This strategy will guide gender integration efforts for the five year cooperative agreement, which aims to use the science of improvement to achieve a higher quality of care and improved health outcomes across USAID-assisted countries.
WI-HER believes that gender integration is a central part of all quality improvement activities: if only half of a population can access or utilize health care services, outcomes cannot be improved. ASSIST will use methods such as gender analysis, disaggregated data collection and analysis, and community participation to identify, understand, and address gender-related barriers and opportunities in health care.
