by Hanna Rabah

Press Release on October 9, 2012

WI-HER is proud to announce that it is a partner on the team that won the bid for the USAID Applying Science to Strengthen and Improve Systems (ASSIST) project with a ceiling of up to $184,984,030 by the US Agency for International Development (USAID). This team is led by University Research Co., LLC (URC), based in Bethesda, MD. ASSIST is a five-year cooperative agreement that will work with USAID-supported countries in Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America, Asia, and Eastern Europe to improve health outcomes and strengthen health systems using state-of-the-art improvement science methodologies. ASSIST works with countries to address a variety of health outcomes, including HIV/AIDS, TB, reproductive health, maternal, newborn and child health, and chronic conditions, among others. The project also works to improve services for orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) and to strengthen health workforces. WI-HER will lead the design and implementation of all gender integration efforts under ASSIST, and provide additional technical assistance in other areas, including knowledge management.

WI-HER is very excited to work with URC and other partners on this important project, and to develop the field of gender integration in quality improvement.
